Have you jumped on to the
protein band wagon? Upping your intake with shop bough protein bars?
Whilst you may be
congratulating yourself for your healthy efforts, how about starting to make
your own!
easy to make protein balls |
Protein bars sounds like they
are going to be time consuming and difficult to make, but they are actually
one the easiest snacks to prepare, plus you can make them in bulk, freeze them
and you can control the flavour!
I have been dabbling in
making my own protein bars for a few months now and one recipe I have made is
these deliciously zesty apricot and orange protein balls!
chop up the dried apricots as small as possible |
To make these tasty protein snacks you
will need:
1/3 cup of
coconut oil (solid)
¼ cup
natural honey
2 scoops
of vanilla protein powder
3
tablespoons of chia seeds
The zest
of one large orange
Squeeze of
orange juice (use this to moisten the mixture)
½ cup of
chopped dried apricots (add more or less depending on flavour)
(makes 8-9)
simply pop in a bowl and mix |
Simply
combine all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well, making sure
all the ingredients are well combined.
Roll
the mixture up into little balls, about a spoonful each.

Pop
onto a plate and into the fridge for a few hours until they harden up a little.
Enjoy!
