Chewy chocolate cornflake cakes...with mars bars

Do you know anyone that doesn’t like a chocolatey cornflake cake?!? Nah, didn’t think so.

The simplest of “baking” but the best of sweet treats, they’re perfect for bake sales, kid’s parties and an afternoon treat. The humble chocolate cornflake cake is essentially four ingredients combined to make a heavenly crunchy cake – chocolate, butter, golden syrup and cornflakes. However, I have added a twist to these...and added Mars bars!

everyone's favourite

The Mars bar chocolate not only adds a creamier chocolate taste but the caramel in it adds a bit of chewiness to the cake too. If like me, you really like the chewy texture of these, then be generous with your golden syrup too!
Depending on how many you are making, you can adjust the quantities, as long as you keep the ratios the same.

100g Mars bars
75g cornflakes
50g of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons of gold syrup

The process for making these couldn’t be simper...

my friend Frenchy lending a hand

Break up the Mars bars into a non stick saucepan and melt,
along with the butter

chcolate + butter = delicious smell

In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted chocolate
onto the cornflakes and stir

may want a whisk to get rid of lumps of caramel

chocolatey oozy goodness

make sure you coat all the flakes

Stir in the golden syrup until well coated

In cup cake cases, spook the mixture into them and leave to set in the fridge for at least an hour before serving

great thing about these, is you can stack them,
pop them in a box and take them somewhere easily

in all their glory at the picnic!

I topped mine off with a spritz of gold edible spray and served them at my work summer social sports day and picnic!

ps
please supervise young kid and clumsy friends!

I think it goes without saying that hot melted chocolate does burn...as my friend Frenchy found out, who (when left unsupervised) dropped the spatula on her foot, burning her foot with chocolate!
